About Ms. Johnston

Tammy Johnston, AGNP-C, is dedicated to compassionate geriatric care and improving the quality of life for senior citizens in the Twin Cities at the Apple Valley Medical Center. As a certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner, Ms. Johnston provides a bevy of health care services to improve the quality of life for members of the senior community, a segment that “tends to be easily overlooked and undervalued,” she says.

Ms. Johnston excels in nursing thanks to her extensive higher education foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health education and physical education from the University of North Dakota, and then another Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from St. Catherine University in St. Paul. Ms. Johnston continued studying at her second alma mater to earn her Master of Science degree in nursing.

Beyond her degrees, Ms. Johnston holds two certificates and two memberships in her field. She’s certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and also certified in basic life support. In addition, Ms. Johnston is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as well as the Minnesota Nurse Practitioners Association.

When she’s not helping seniors at the Apple Valley Medical Center, Ms. Johnston is devoted to her family life and the rest of the Minneapolis-St. Paul community. She serves as manager for her two sons’ hockey and lacrosse teams, on top of attending and assisting with greeting and youth programs at River Valley Church. From camping and running to golfing, Ms. Johnston also enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, two sons, their dog, and friends.
