Give Your Kids a Safe Christmas

Go ahead. Splurge on your kids this Christmas, if you want, but here are some tips to consider when buying those toys.

  1. Make sure the toy is age-appropriate. Keep away from toys with small parts if you’re buying for a child younger than three.
  2. Load up on the safety gear. If you’re buying a bike or outdoor riding toy, add a helmet and maybe even knee and elbow pads.
  3. Make sure clothing is flame-resistant or flame-retardant.
  4. Choose non-toxic toys. Be especially mindful of toys with any lead paint or components.
  5. Check for recalls. Visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website [] for the latest information on product recalls.
